There are 3 negative words in Bahasa Indonesia and they are diffent in use. So, I discuss in this about these words and how to use it properly. Below is the script explanation.
The List: 1) Tidak 2) Bukan 3) Jangan
- Tidak:
Used in verb sentence and adjective sentence
1) Ex for verb sentence
Saya tidak makan sekarang (I am not eating now)
2) Ex for adjective sentence:
Dia tidak jahat (He is not bad)
- Bukan:
Used in noun sentence only,ex::
Ssaya bukan seorang guru (I am not a teacher)
- Jangan
Used in prohibition sentence, ex:
Jangan makan! (Dont eat!)
Jangan tidur! (Dont sleep!)
You can add an affix -lah in “Jangan” This make your sentence become sounds more polite, ex:
Janganlah makan! (Dont eat!)
Janganlah tidur! (Dont sleep!)
